Note from Dottie Sponseller Carr 9/10/2008 Bill & All, The pictures were great; almost like being there. Sorry I missed it but, will be up by the end of the month. My daughter, Nicki, and I are driving straight through leaving Sept 26, God willing with these storms. Our hurricane windows, on order, will be in the end of this week. I hope Ike misses your daughter & family, Bill. It's either feast or famine down here with the rain. Now they had to drain lake Okeechobee cause the storms made up the 12 foot deficiet and added 3 more feet. There is a dike around the lake but, the Army Corps of Engineers didn't think it would hold so, they drained into the Everglades. Now the environmentalists will be having a hissy fit. Now we can water the lawns again. Who wants to with the price of water that keeps rising and you have to keep cutting the grass more often. My granddaughter & her boyfriend are going to stay and watch the house as we probably will stay in Pa for the holidays. The first Christmas we will be home for since 1992. I am looking forward to the Oct meeting. We have a phone, 570-864-2462, internet and direct TV installed. Somebody can call and remind the old lady, me, about the meeting. Looking forward to seeing you all again. Love, Dot Take care and God Bless.

This one I've pushed to the top of the heap; I'll get caught up someday. Note from Ron Matalavage 8/17/2006 (Spouse of June Flood Dear Bill, Just a note to express my appreciation and thanks to the planning committee and classmates of June who attended the reunion events. Your gracious and warm welcome to myself and all attendees was heartfelt. Although I was a '55 graduate of Luzerne H.S., I felt a kinship to Kingston through my roots, connections and memories. My Dad was born and raised in Kingston, My Grandparents were residents and once had a business on Zerby Ave. The family name was Matulevicius before they Americanized my name. The night before I left for GWU in Washington, two friends convinced me to thumb a ride to Harvey's Lake. Dot Sponseller came along and gave us a ride. That was the night I first met June. We said Hello and little more. Needless to say there is more to the story. Dot dropped us off at Sunset Beach and we proceeded to a ice cream counter to have a milk shake as we did quite often. Who made the fabulous shakes ?.... non other than Lois Wolfle. They were the BEST ! Kingston Stadium was home to the Luzerne football team and I had played many memorable games at that site. I was on the field the night Barry picked up a fumble and returned it 94 yards for a touchdown. As I remember, he ran with the speed and grace of a Jaguar. (I believe he dunked the ball over the goal posts after scoring. That was the start of end zone celebrations carried on to this day.) The Kingston gym was home to several memorable basketball playoff games. June always spoke highly of her classmates and I enjoyed the festivities and conversations that I had with many of you. My Warmest Regards, Ron Matalavage

Note from Judy Kravitz 5/11/2006 I am working on plans to coordinate trip to the reunion. I want to try to get to see family in upstate NY sometime in August ( around the 13th ) I am 90% sure that I will be there. I am having difficulty with the logistics of getting to the various places that are scheduled. I did reserve a room at the Comfort Inn for Fri thru Sunday. I am having some difficulty finding air flights other than US Air. Hope all is well. Judy Today I had lunch with Sharon Freed Falkowitz. It has been delightful connecting with my old classmate.

Note from Jim Bogden 5/3/2006 Bill - I have decided to attend the reunion and will be there if all goes well between now and then. ... I will be leaving on May 8 to drive to Dayton, Ohio for a convention that I sell at each year and then on to Delaware where I will be visiting with my college friend who was my partner in the car racing we did in the late 50's and early 60's. I will meet Chuck Danchek in Delaware and we all will have our own reunion for a week to 10 days. We will return to Ca. via Dallas, Tx where we will visit with friends, attend another convention and enjoy the area. I should be back in Ca. somewhere late in June depending on how long we stay in Texas. I have made my flight reservations and motel reservations for the week before the reunion and a day or two after. We should be able to get together sometime in that time slot. Please let me know how to make out the check and if you know who will be at the reunion for sure, I would like to know. I have been very busy in the past two or three months with business things and preparing for the sales at Dayton. Jim

Note from Helen (Harding) Ferraro 4/9/2006 Hello to all of my long-lost friends. I'm hoping to hear from many of you at hfergolf@optonline.net or any other email address that has been supplied for you. Looking forward to seeing everyone on 8/13/06. Wow, I'm not 67, are you? How could they ever have done away with our high school? Would you have spent your senior year in Plymouth? What is happening in Kingston these days? Haven't been there for at least seven years. Can anyone match my dad's extremely healthy living age of 97? Good life must be an offset of good air in the coal region!! And so I should have had the best choir in the northeast. Sorry Charlie, left the music world for third grade teaching - and loved it. But - - - - retirement is the ultimate. Couldn't have enjoyed my golf game in a classroom!!!!!!! Looking forward to seeing you all in the near future. Helen (Harding) Ferraro

Note from Joanne Alegria (Romanowski) 4/8/2006 Hi Bill: Thanks for sending the pictures., and bringing back a lot of memories. I went to St. Hedwig's grade school for about 6yrs. (Not much fun with the nuns) My house was located on Frederick Street and that area a round pringle hill we use to go sledding. I was able a few years ago to meet the people who purchased the home I grew up in and was given a tour. What a wonderful experience, not only do they love the house but have made lots of good repairs. We have kept in touch all these years and I usually stop in to see them when I am in town. Have fun at the meeting....wish I was there however I am in the middle of packing and trying to get everything ready at the house inorder to leave it for 4 1/2 months. HAPPY EASTER TO ALL. Joanne Alegria (Romanowski)

Note from Gil Sperry 4/8/2006 Hi, Appreciate the updates. Doesn't look as though we'll be back in August (my wife and I will be in Alaska for the summer visiting our son, daughter-in-law, and three grandkids). Please keep the updates coming...nice to see the images (and hear the voices) from our past. Regards to all our classmates. Sincerely, Gil Sperry

Note from Helen Harding Ferraro 4/8/2006 Hey everybody, hello and best wishes. I have been trying for days to locate a reunion file for us. I'm interested in all the info you can send me. At present I am oblivious to all. I hope I can see everyone this summer. I'm living in Manalapan, NJ, retired for 5 terrific years, and enjoying a life of family, travel, and catching up on all the literature I never had time to enjoy. Please post my email address as I would like to communicate with old friends. Helen Harding Ferraro hfergolf2000@yahoo.com

Note from Ruth Ann Cooper Roberts 2/17/2006 Dear Bill, It has been so good hearing from so many of our classmates for the good old days. Thank you for all the work you are doing keeping the rest of us in contact with old friends. The year after graduation my parents left the valley and relocated in the Bucks County area of Pa. At that time I was coming back to Kingston frequently but as time went by and I married we settled in Newtown Pa. My husband was teaching in Pennington NJ and then in Bucks, County. Later we moved to central New York for five years and then back to Bucks County. Due to a bout with cancer we were there for the duration of my treatment and then back to Vestal NY. We retired in 2001 and soon after moved to the Ithaca, NY area (Freeville actually) to be closer to our children. Hope to see you all at the reunion in August. Thank you again for all your hard work. Sincerely, Ruth Ann Cooper Roberts

Note from DOT CARR (Dorothy Sponseller) 1/18/2006

HI BILL, WITH NEW COMPUTER WORKING FINE, I WENT ON YOUR GREAT WEB PAGE. PICKED UP MY 50TH INVITATION ON LINE. THINKING SERIOUSLY OF COMING AS MY BACK OPERATION WENT VERY WELL. MY FOURTH LUMBAR VERTEBRAE WAS SLIPPED 50% SQUASHING MY SPINAL CORD TO 25% USAGE. THAT'S WHAT WAS CAUSING THE NUMBNESS AND EXCRUCIATING PAIN IN MY LEGS. THE OPERATION TOOK SIX HOURS AND I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL TWENTY DAYS, MOSTLY FOR REHAB. I HAD A GREAT DOC AND AM THANKFUL AND BLESSED FOR MY PROGRESS, I'M WALKING. THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT BEING IN THE HOSPITAL WAS WILMA STRUCK AT THAT TIME. MY HUBBY HAD TO DEAL WITH WILMA AS A 20FT PORTION OF A HUGE PINE TREE FELL INTO THE FRONT OF OUR HOUSE PUTTING A HOLE IN THE ROOF. ALSO LOST A LOT OF SHINGLES, VEGETATION AND WINDOWS. FORTUNATELY MY HUBBY HAD PUT ON A NEW ROOF WITHIN A MONTH. THERE ARE BLUE TARPS ALL OVER ROOFS IN THE COUNTY STILL. YOU CAN GIVE MY NEW E-MAIL ADDRESS TO EVERYONE < I have Dot's and all the addresses for anyone who wants them. Bill> I HAD TO CHANGE IT WHEN I SIGNED UP FOR BELL SOUTH DSL. I ALSO HAD A NEW VIDEO CARD INSTALLED SO THE PICTURES COME OUT GREAT. I WOULD ENJOY HEARING FROM CLASSMATES AND YOU, PLEASE KEEP IN TOUCH. CLASSMATE,

Note from Max Schleicher 1/19/2006 (in response to my note)

Bill,

Guten tag. Wie geht est Ihr? Es geht mir gut. (Would you guess that Max and I studied German with Frau Weis?)

This is a really great surprise.

In the 90's I was working at SLAC ( Stanford ). In 1998 I went to UCOP (University of California Office of the President) I started doing Y2K fixes .

I retired in 2005 and now split my time between my house in San Francisco, and (my significant other ) Betsy's house in Napa. I have two bikes at both homes, and spend as much time as I can riding one of my bicycles, mostly through the Napa valley wine country.

My daughter (Mitzi) just graduated from the Boston Conservatory and is an aspiring singer in NYC.

Once a month I am the Cantor at the synagogue in Napa.

Warm regards. Are there serious plans for a reunion? (I passed on the information; Bill)

Note from Judy Pasanek Connors 1/10/2006

Hi,

Thanks for all of the great info. I love all the pictures you include on the net. I also loved reading the mail bag. Could I have D. Sponseller's e-mail and do you have any info on Phil Hughes or her death. My hus band was a friend of her hus bands and I Knew Phil well in high school. Her hubby passed away a long time a go at 38. You can pass my e-mail or home address to any of my classmates who would like it.

I've been in CA since '75. It's home for me now. ( I do get homesick when I see the pictures that you post.) I have three children and have been married 47 yrs. My husband and worked for a aerospace company for 20 yrs and have been retired 7 yrs.

Note from Joanne Alegria (Romanowski) 1/8/2006

Hi Bill:

Thanks for the pictures. Its always nice to see old familiar places again. My plans have changed, rather my Niece is responsible for changing them. I was coming in for my Niece Michelle's baby around the end of April, well her sister is also expecting her second child in August, so it looks like I will not be coming back until December and be there for the holidays. More than likely I will be heading back to Ketchikan Alaska in April for training,. It all depends on if I will be working the same job, or if my former boss will not be coming back. Good possibility I might be asked to replace him and in that case I'll more than likely be there the beginning of April.

Keep sending me information as I'd like to keep informed as to what is going on. Regarding weather we have had the warmest winter in years, years in the 70's and high 40's at night. This usually is our rainy reason and we are way short. Its be a short and tshirt type of weather in fact got back into cycling again today with a group of friends. I guess this is why I live in the desert and leave when it gets too hot. Take care,

Note from Ginny (Hardy) Cocco 11/7/2005

Thans for the up-date. I loved the picture of the Autumn leaves. It made me homesick for good ole Penna. Yes, Walter (my old neighbor) I would love to see the picture. Say "Hi" to all that show up for the meeting. I am planning on being there for the reunion. I am off to China tomorrow. Keep in touch. Always,

And again on Janyary 8:

Happy New Year to you as well. It is always good to hear from you with the updates. I sure do wish I could show up on the 14th. but, alas. I can't. I am hopeful that I can get in for the reunion in August. I am planning on being home sometime in May for a week or two. Maybe I can round up a few people to meet while I am there. In August, I usually go to Hawaii. Now, I know what you are thinking. I go there to house/pet sit for a friend, so all Tracee (my daughter) and I have to do is to get there. Neat, huh? As soon as I find out there travel plans, I will know. I just dropped off my sister, Barbie, at LAX to return to Philly and one of my college roommates and her husband at the Pier to take a cruise to Hawaii. They were all here for a visit. Now, the house seems so empty. Now. I WILL have to take down the Christmas decorations!! Take care. Keep well and keep in touch. Say "Hi" to the gang on the 14th. Always, Ginny

Note from Jackie Frank (Houck)10/31/05

Wilma came calling ---we were without electric, water, phone, etc for 6 days. The worst part was not being able to wash or flush toilets. Yes, there was destruction (we were fine). 2 tornados hit our 22 story condo building--some of the units on the south side (we are on the north side) had their sliding glass doors and windows blown out, the strong winds made the units look like the inside of a washing machine--plus, the pressure blew out the walls of their units. Memories of living in W=B during Agnes quickly came to mind.

Note from George and Carolyn Mountjoy 10/11/05

Hi Bill, Carolyn and I have been back home for about three weeks now. The motorhome maintenance and unloading is almost completed and we are gaining on our neglected chores around the house. Our squaredance season opened last thursday evening and our executive board meeting was yesterday. I am almost to that place where I can get back to working part- time three days a week. The income that we get will go towords our trip back to the east coast next summer and our 50th class reunion. I am sure that fuel expenses will further escalate next year so we do want to be prepared for that.

I will visit your web site to see if there is any further news on the date, time, and places for our reunion. We are both looking forward to seeing friends and family but not to keen on the traffic and navigating through the very busy highways.

I have got to get busy and head down to the park to walk with our morning group. Take care,

Note from Glade and Barb (Bailey) Frisbie 8/24/05

Love looking at the pictures and trying to figure out who everyone is.We almost made a reunion meeting but were flooded in while in Pa. We are full time RVers and travel around the country. Presently we are in Massena,NY using our daughters computer as ours has died. We felt the need to respond since this is such a great idea. We have dinner with Pete and Lynne Austin when ever we are in Pa.Looking forward to the reunion next summer. (I've since received a note that they have a new computer. Bill)

Note from Hal Leventhal August 14, 2005

Great pictures! The only problem is who are all these old people? Since I haven't seen some of my classmates in 50 years, I have no idea who these people are. Any chance of getting updated pictures with names under them.

Yes, there's a chance but someone else has to provide the names. I can do websites but putting names and faces together is why Pinhead is such a treasure. The next step is to get the list of attendees and post it. Then maybe we can put the names and faces together. I may even be able to identify a few without help. It's on my todo list.

Note from Dorthy Sponseller Carr August 14, 2005

MY HUBBY & I HAVE BEEN DOWN HERE FOR THIRTEEN YEARS, MOSTLY DUE TO HIM BEING A CONSTRUCTION WORKER-- YOU CAN STARVE WITH WINTERS IN PA. HE HAS BEEN WORKING YEAR ROUND DOWN HERE. I WORKED UP UNTIL FEB OF THIS YEAR BUT RETIRED DUE TO BACK TROUBLE. GOING TO SPECIALISTS IN SEPT.

ALL THE PICS WERE GREAT BUT THE ONLY ONE I RECOGNIZED WAS WARREN! THE PICS OF THE MEETINGS ON THE LEFT SIDE WERE BLURRY, THE OTHERS WERE CLEAR. WHAT CAN I DO TO CLEAR THEM UP? WILL WRITE SOON. CLASSMATE DOT SPONSELLER, NEW NAME CARR.

I know they're not the best and sometimes they can be cleared up. Names are a problem. I'm terrible putting names to faces. Bill

Note from Joanne Alegria (Romanowski) July 11, 2005

Hello to everyone from Ketchikan Alaska.

Yes, I am working up here for the summer before going back to hot Tucson Arizona end of Sept.

Presently working for Cruise West as a Guest Serv. Rep. and trying to do some hiking, fishing, cycling and float plane trips. Its a great place to come and get away from the heat.

In Tucson I am a hiking guide for Southwest Trekking and sell jewelry at our world famous Gem and Mineral show in February. So needless to say I would love to come to your meetings but unfortunately its a bit too far at this time. Hopefully I will be able to make it next June unless I come back to Ketchikan for the summer.

Please keep me posted...I love hearing from you all.

By the way I was back in Shavertown for the holidays with my family and did get to go swimming at the YMCA in Wilkes Barre...the very pool where Kingston HS had their swim club and I learned the very strokes I use today in races for the Senior Olympics. They also have a masters swim group here in Ketchikan which I belong. It all started back there.

Joanne Alegria (Romanowski)

Note from June 29, 2005

Good day.

A KHS classmate of mine (Charlie Dancheck '58) forwarded your website. Very nice job, I might say. Cheers for your upcoming 50th reunion.

When I attended KHS, I resided on Winola Ave., Kingston and was close friends with several of your class mates: Jim Bosso, Bill McGoey, David Whipple, Drue Daniels all Winola Ave. residents. Also Jan Verbinski of Pierce St. who has passed away. Please pass on my best wishes to any of the above you have contact with.

I moved to California in 1971 and have not been back to the valley since 1993.

Regards, Mike Kasarda Castro Valley, CA (SF Bay Area)

(Bernie included her address, phone and E-mail. I don't post those on the internet but send me a note and I'll forward them. Bill)

Thanks for all your work in planning this...I know what a big job it is. Hope to hear from you. Bernie
